2026 Musuem Annual Meeting
The Museum of Ashe County History in partnership with the historic Orion Schoolhouse and Chapel presents the 2026 Museum of Ashe County History Annual Meeting!
The public is invited to join the Museum of Ashe County History on Tuesday, October 20th, for their annual meeting. The program will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature the presentation of the 2026 "Who's Who" of Ashe County history awards and a special Jack Tales program by legendary storyteller Orville Hicks.
Hicks inherited his folklore and his verbal skills by growing up in the most famous family of Appalachian storytellers, the Hicks-Harmon-Ward family of Beech Mountain, North Carolina. Orville and his kin are best known for telling Jack Tales, folk stories about the many adventures of a clever boy named Jack, along with a variety of other tall tales and personal narratives about life in the mountains.
Light refreshments will be served. The program will take place at the Historic Orion Schoolhouse, located at 350 Orion Lane, in Jefferson, NC and is FREE and open to all!
Come enjoy some light refreshments, the Who’s Who Award Ceremony, and a Jack Tales session!
