Wayne Henderson and Herb Key
On Saturday, October 24th, at 7 p.m., the Museum of Ashe County History welcomes back to its stage legendary pickers Wayne Henderson and Herb Key!
Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and North Carolina, both Key and Henderson are accomplished luthiers and flat pickers. Key has played music for most of his life and has spent more than thirty years making, repairing, and restoring instruments. While Henderson specializes in the crafting of handmade, custom acoustic guitars. He also occasionally makes other stringed instruments, such as mandolins, banjos, and fiddles. Both are accomplished musicians, with a picking style similar to that of high country legend Doc Watson.
This performance is part of the museum's 2026 Courthouse Concert Series and is FREE and open to the public. The event will take place in the museum's historic 1904 courtroom, located at 301 E. Main Street in Jefferson, NC. For more information, call (336) 846-1904.
